We Disappear Slowly

the shape of absence

we carried the winter

nothing moves beyond us

underneath our former lives

a memory without a name

the distance between days

all that remained unfinished

before we became strangers

the places we outgrew

a sky we never reached

everything left unspoken

the last familiar road

our shadows grew longer

what time could not erase

somewhere past forever

the years between us

a world beneath the dust

we left the doors open

the silence inside things

nothing was meant to last

the night remembers everything

before the memory breaks

a season without return

all the distance we became

the light we couldn't carry
