15 Big Ones is the twentieth studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on July 5, 1976, by Brother/Reprise. It includes a mix of original songs and renditions of rock 'n' roll and R&B standards. The LP was the band's first album with production credited solely to Brian Wilson since Pet Sounds and its recording followed a three-year period in which he had withdrawn into depression and the band were largely focused on concert touring. Unsuccessful in releasing or finishing material they had accumulated since 1974, the members and manager Stephen Love prevailed upon Wilson, then recovering from addiction, to lead the group's next release. Most of 15 Big Ones was recorded in early 1976 at the band's Brother Studios with the initial intention that Wilson record a collection of deliberately "under-produced" cover renditions and subsequently yield a potential double album of all-original songs. The project was marred by creative disputes, other health issues among the members, Wilson's reluctance, and conflicts with his psychologist Eugene Landy.
