The Days We Didn’t Plan

sand on our backs

shoes off at the step

facing the same line

until my back dries

we sat here last summer

half of one can

we missed the last bus

let the shadows move

one earbud each

the day we took no photos

riding back still wet

say it again next time

sand left in my shoe
