Jerome Froese is a pioneer of ambient rock who has been developing his own sonic language since the early 1990s – blending electronic innovation with atmospheric guitar artistry. As the son of Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese and a longtime member of the iconic group himself (1990–2006), he is deeply rooted in the history of electronic music – yet consistently follows his own unique path. During his time with Tangerine Dream, Jerome Froese was the primary composer for numerous international productions. With seven consecutive Grammy nominations and over 1.5 million records sold, his era with Tangerine Dream marked the most commercially successful phase of the band, particularly in the United States. This success was reflected in months-long Top 10 placements in the U.S. Billboard charts. With his self-developed style called Guitartronica, Froese fuses electronic structures with guitar elements that transcend conventional genre boundaries. The electric guitar serves not only as a traditional lead instrument but also as a source for rhythmic sequences, pads, and effects – a method that gives his sound a distinctive signature. In addition to his solo career, Jerome Froese is also known for numerous collaborations and remixes, including work with Claudia Brücken & Susanne Freytag (Propaganda), Andy Bell (Erasure), Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, All About Eve), Demis Roussos (Aphrodite’s Child), and Johannes Schmoelling (Tangerine Dream, LOOM).
