ZZOA is an all-female band that originated in Ålesund, Norway. Seeking to achieve a heavier, more formidable sonic power, the lineup evolved by bringing in dynamic new members from South Korea, bridging Scandinavian darkness with relentless K-pop intensity. Deeply influenced by a vast spectrum of global instrumentation—from the haunting resonance of the sitar and guzheng to visceral Brazilian rhythms and traditional Slavic folk—the project's artistic foundation was forged when Zoe brought her rigorous discipline from one of Norway's most prestigious conservatories to the group's core. Seeking to break the mold of modern K-pop and metal, a pivotal moment in their sonic evolution came from studying and absorbing the raw, late-90s pop energy of the iconic Chilean girl group, Supernova. Merging this attitude with their multi-cultural roots, the result is the genre-defying, visceral sound we hear today.
