EARLY LIFE: Scale Drell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, (as Andrell Newman). Music has been an integral part of his life for as long as he can remember. By age 5, he was using broken sticks to make beats while coming up with lyrics. At age 9, he wrote and performed the music for his older brother Javon. But music wasn't just a fun hobby for him. It was a refuge for him and his brother growing up and seeing their mother struggle as a single mother. By his mid-teens, he started hustling drugs to be able to help his family financially. He always felt the whole world's weight on his shoulders, and he has so many people that depend on him. PRISON TIME In 2010, Scale was sentenced to 12 in prison. While trying to mentally prepare himself to do that time, he, unfortunately, lost his brother Javon the same year. Scale has always been a leader and pillar of strength to his family, his personality is authentic, and he is a loyal friend. Although his life was hard, he never gave up, and while incarcerated, he was able to master his craft as a musician. PRESENT & FUTURE Scale was released from prison in 2022. Since the release, he recorded his first EP “The Story of a Hot Boy: Volume One,” based on actual events that portrayed ScaleDrell’s life before he went to prison. He is currently working on a documentary set to release in 2023.
