Bringing irreverence and authenticity, Under the Rug is a Portland-based band of misfits blending intricate musicianship with the raw abandon of alt sounds. With a love of music spanning generations, and a wink of dark humor to keep things in perspective, the members of this indie group are gaining new devout fans (also known as “rug rats”) by the day. A brainchild of vocalist Casey Dayan, guitarist Sean Campbell, and drummer Brendan McQueeney, Under the Rug is much more than meets the eye. Originally formed during the trio’s California college days, what started as a co-ed band blossomed into a full time career in music. The three founding members developed Under the Rug’s eclectic sound while producing and engineering up-and-coming acts in the greater Los Angeles area. Like with so many artists, the recent pandemic took the band in a new direction. Fresh off the heels of their first full-length LP, Pale King, Under the Rug left the studio behind, and decided to make a fresh start in Austin, TX.
