Bastards, a pioneer of hardcore punk founded in 1981, reunited in 2022. The 2020s lineup features original members Sid (vocals) and Rike (guitar), as well as, like before, punk veteran Jaska (drums) and Vuokko (bass). In 2023, Bastards released new music for the first time this millennium. The result was Ei sotaa EP. In addition, the band released the six-vinyl Arctic Hardcore compilation, which includes all of their 1980s recordings in remastered versions, as well as numerous recordings from the rehearsal space and live shows. In addition to touring domestically, the band also visited Potsdam, just outside Berlin. The sold-out show was recorded in front of an ecstatic audience and compiled into Back to Berlin live album 2025. The singles Putriootti and Sensuuri were also released from the album. In 2024, Bastards toured Finland as part of the Arctic Hardcore tour, where the legendary Rattus joined them on stage for several shows. In November 2025, Bastards released their studio album Rauhanlietsoja (Peacemonger). The album, showcasing a modern, tightly played, and high-quality production of Bastards’ sound, was well received, reaching, among other places, the top spot on Kaaos Zine’s editor’s album list of the year. The album was preceded by monthly releases of the songs Sukupolvi, Rauhanlietsoja, Katkolle ja terapiaan, Likaiset valheet and Valuvika. As a result, the band’s fan base has grown to include new fans of all ages who are into both metal and modern punk.
