Dubstar are Sarah Blackwood and Chris Wilkie. Forming in 1993 and signing to Food / EMI Records in 1994, they released their hugely successful debut Disgraceful in 1995, which yielded the hit singles Not so Manic Now, Stars, and Anywhere. The albums Goodbye and Make It Better followed. After personal crises resulted in several years’ hiatus, 2018 saw Blackwood and Wilkie return with the critically-acclaimed album One, produced by Youth. 2020’s Hygiene Strip and I Can See You Outside singles were the first collaboration between Dubstar and their original producer Stephen Hague (Pet Shop Boys / New Order / Erasure) to be released since 1997, beginning a prolific new chapter in the band’s 25-year history. 2021's Tectonic Plates, again produced with Stephen Hague, presents as a stylistic retrospective, depicting sounds from the band's early childhood. There are audible references to Tubeway Army, XTC, Nile Rogers' work with Sister Sledge and Bowie's Lodger, among others.
