If george’s music could be summed up in a single phrase, it would be this: just the essentials. Understated sound, honest lyrics, and a familiar warmth. Rooted in R&B but not confined by it, his music draws on some of the genre’s most compelling qualities: groove, emotional honesty, and a deeply human touch. george made his debut in 2016 with the self-released single “아엠죠지 (I Am George)” and gained wider recognition with “Boat,” released through Craft & Jun. With its playful music video, easygoing melody, and unguarded honesty, “Boat” introduced a distinctive new voice to Korea’s R&B scene. In 2018, Apple Music named “Swimming Pool” one of its best songs of the year, bringing him attention beyond Korea. His debut EP, “cassette,” released that same year, featured “하려고해고백,” which earned a nomination for Best R&B & Soul Song at the 2019 Korean Music Awards. With his 2019 EP, “LEEEE,” he expanded his sonic palette and further developed a musical world of his own. His debut full-length album, “FRR,” followed in 2023, reflecting his growth as a singer-songwriter and his hands-on approach to lyrics, composition, arrangement, and mixing. On “gimbap,” his 2024 EP of covers, he brought his own sensibility to love songs from the 1990s and 2000s. In 2026, george returned with the EP “solsol~ condo.” Its five tracks are light, warm, and unhurried, evoking a breezy holiday spent with a friend or partner. As always, george’s music quietly keeps you company, like an old friend.
