Elia Gunnar Salomon aka Elijah Salomon was born on August 20, 1986 in Zurich, Switzerland. Elijah Salomon has been a household name in the Swiss music and reggae scene for almost 20 years now. His debut album Beweg Di, recorded with the band The Dubby Conquerors, was a great national and international success. In 2014, Eat Ripe Fruit, his second LP, was released on One Camp Records, his own label. This work was also very well received by the now large audience and continued the success of its predecessor. In April 2016, the album dub remix was released under the title Dub Ripe Fruit. The eight songs were arranged in London with the participation of the Jamaican band Raging Fyah as well as Joe Ariwa, son of the legendary Mad Professor. With this record, Elijah is the first Swiss artist to release a complete dub remix album. In 2022 he released his fourth album Salomon, with songs in Swiss German and English, and for the first time also in Italian, followed by Salomon In Dub in 2023, remixed by Joe Ariwa and John John. In the summer of 2024, Elijah Salomon removed his entire catalog from Spotify to protest the low royalties paid to artists by streaming services in Switzerland. In 2025, the protest expanded globally, as his full catalog was withdrawn worldwide to draw greater attention to the challenges faced by cultural workers. In November 2025 he released his sixth studio album, Essenz.
