"Just a bunch of old farts doing mostly cover tunes." This fantastic groundbreaking progressive bluegrass band has been around for 40 years. They are famous for the bluegrass things they can do to blues, folk, rock-and-roll...They "cover" songwriters including John Prine, Eric Clapton, Dylan, George Jones, etc., and have written some classics of their own. Despite having only one original member (Ben Eldridge), they manage to preserve the amazing sound that is The Seldom Scene. This 2010 lineup includes original bandmember Ben Eldridge (banjo), Ronnie Simpkins (bass), Lou Reid (mandolin), and Fred Travers (dobro.) These clips are from their first-ever appearance in Flagstaff, AZ, at the Pickin' In the Pines Bluegrass & Acoustic Music Festival, held Sep. 17-19, 2010, at Pine Mountain Amphitheater, organized by Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music.
