Alexia - In a Jazz Mood

Alexia "In a Jazz Mood" BMG 1996 In a Jazz mood: I have always loved Jazz. When I first relocated from Boston and New York to Athens Greece, my record company admonished me to forget my loves in music, especially Jazz.. I was crushed, I thought I had lost the ground under my feet and any purpose.! Six years later, I had changed record companies. The president of BMG, Miltos Karatzas, at my new company, is a great Music lover and record/cd collector! Thanks to Miltos, I began to fulfill every Music desire of mine: --" In a Jazz Mood", my jazz album was released with the participation of one of my main influences in music, the Greatest pianist in the world, Chick Corea, John Patitucci on bass and Gary Novak on drums! Three incredible musicians! We recorded the legendary "SPAIN" by Rodrigo and Chick and "SOFT AND GENTLE" which Gayle Moran, Chick's wife composed. Two challenging pieces of music the music preparation of which was executed perfectly by fellow-Cypriot pianist- arranger - drummer Stavros Lantsias. Part of the album was recorded at Chick's studio in Los Angeles, "The Mad Hatter", part of it in Athens and part of it in Sofia where I recorded many albums with my long-time associate, exquisite pianist, composer, orchestrator, Antoni Donchev and his band. By singing "SPAIN" it rendered me the 3rd in the world to have sang this amazing, intricate song, ACCOMPANIED by the master: CHICK COREA, the 1st interpreter being another of my Inspirations Al Jarreau, the 2nd Bobby McFerrin and me! I am also the 2nd in the world to have sang "SOFT AND GENTLE", along with its composer, lyricist, pianist and singer, the wonderful, the uniquely talented Gayle Moran. Both Gayle and I were accompanied by CHICK in our respective albums and I had the privilege of having Gayle being present at the studio while we were recording it! I am grateful still #Αλέξια #Alexia #Τζαζ #jazz #inajazzmood
