In the autumn of 2019, Psappha offered UK-based advanced students of composition and composers, who are at an early stage of their career, the opportunity to work with Psappha’s cellist, Jennifer Langridge, and to write a new work for solo cello. The scheme took place between September 2019 and July 2020 (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) with each composer working closely with Jen. The culmination of the project was a day of filming at Hallé St Peter's in Manchester, UK. The composers attended the day remotely but we provided them with CD quality sound during the session so they were able to provide feedback after each 'take'. We present the films in stunning 4K for the first time. Thank you to our composers James Chan, Stefano Fasce, Alex Ho, Carol J Jones, Lisa Robertson and Joanna Ward.
