Persona 6 OST III follows the story after the ending of OST II Here the origin of Shadows is explained by the Norns, who go in-depth about the serpent dragon, Ouroborus. They also explain that the SM cards that contain shadows, originate from the skin of Ouroborus. The dragon remains locked and chained in the Shadow Realm, as the Shadow Market feeds the dragon shadows in order for it to reproduce the Shadows in a finer liquid called Ourobian water. This water is then poured into each card. Ourobian water is what the ocean of the Shadow Realm is made of, in which the party members had fell in. The protagonist, successfully reforming herself within the water, dives back in with hopes of rescuing her friends. She dives into the soul fragments of her friends that allow her to traverse their memories and interact with them. She saves them all, including Chiyo who was betrayed by Ryuzen Hoshino, and thrown into the water as well. Chiyo was implanted with Lucifer’s essence within her SM card, slowly corrupting her and her actions. After defeating him, both her demeanor and Persona changes. At end she is ultimately forgiven, as the real manipulator was Ryuzen the entire time. The party remains in the middle of the vortex of the Shadow Realm, watching the sea of the realm spin continuously around them. However they come to a problem, as they are unable to leave the Shadow Realm due to the instability of the Shadow Market itself. Due to the Apple of Ouroborus being moved from its originally place, the Ourobian sea which houses million of shadows in the shadow realm suddenly becomes restless and are unable to stay under control by NORNS. They Norns also have no power left to return them back to the market. But by sheer luck, Jurojin one of the 7 lucky gods of Dimension VI, had given the protagonist a talisman way back, which now suddenly activates revealing a large white crane. Running and grabbing the crane, the Norns with their last strength, opens a gate out of the Shadow Realm in which the entire party barely manages to get through. With the gate closed they return back to Dimension VI, where the Jurojin relays to them the history of the Shadow Market and the tale of Eris the Goddess of Discord. They originated from a higher being named the Tetragrammaton, who believed in power called infinity and its power of repetition. While the being believed it could not be controlled and should be left alone to be observed, Eris defied her creator and created life with the power of infinity. Her first creation was the world, her second the tree Yggdrasil and third the creations of the world. But one day one creature decides to eat the fruit from Yggdrasil and became known as Ouroborus. Through its birth, the shadows were also introduced to the world. Eris deduced that souls are essentially little balls of “infinity which is the energy that gives life to creation, and Ouroborus absorbs that power and gets stronger. It also sheds its skin after eating, which turns into the Shadows of the souls he had consumed. These shadows are things Ouroborus can eat as well, similar to eating a bone of a chicken. When he eats them, they then seeps out of its pores like liquid which then turns into Ourobian water. Eris completely fascinated by this, decides to experiment with Ourobian water on other creations while keeping Ouroborus domesticated. Through Lucifer’s help, unknown to her intentions, they create the first two humans, Adam and Eve. Eve was experimented on in secret by Eris, which allowed her to obtain the power of Persona, her inner will materialized. But Eris, though intrigued by Eve’s power, was unbothered by this progression, noticing that the results of Ourobian water on her other creations weren’t consistent. Some of her creations became grotesque monsters, which would later be named Demons. Adam and Lucifer eventually find out about Eris’s experiments, with Eris now curious what would happen if Lucifer had drank the Ourobian water as well. Lucifer after being overpowered by Eris in a 1 on 1 fight is forced to drink the water. Lucifer then turns into a demon, lost in will for a moment, until Eve arrives to rescue him. In a demonic form Lucifer fights Eris one last time, until the Tetragrammaton appears. They destroy Eris immediately but before she is wiped out of existence her last essence is absorbed within Eve’s body. Through her she eats the Apple of Ouroborus, which grants her the power of creating a separate realm within the world. This realm essentially absorbs a part of the universe, trapping it away from the Tetragrammaton. She escapes, and Eve and her offspring became connected to Eris’s influence. Every 1000 years a descendant of Eve will be influenced enough by Eris to become a catalyst for her revival. The protagonist is told that they are a descendant of Eve and to be careful of their mental state. They travel to the Shadow Market to undo Ryuzen’s actions and save the world.
