Koteeswara Iyer was the first composer to compose full Krithis in each of the 72 Melakartha (parent) Ragas of Carnatic Music, on Lord Shanmugha or Murugan. This set, together with an opening and closing (Mangalam) form a complete set and has been popularised in recent times by S.Rajam, our Guru. All the Krithis are in chaste Tamil, embellished with philosophy with the Raga Mudra and the composer signature in each song. This playlist contains all the 72 Melakarthas with the opening and closing pieces, in a Veena rendition by Gomathi and Sai Venkatesh.
