My musical history: Paul Levinson's song "Unbelievable (Inconceivable You)" was recorded by The Vogues on Reprise Records in 1968, but never released. Also in 1968, Ellie Greenwich and Mike Rashkow signed Levinson's group The Other Voices to their company Pineywood Productions, which in turn signed them to Atlantic Records, which released two singles by The Other Voices. "Hung Up On Love," co-written by Levinson and Mikie Harris, was the B-side on both singles. Levinson's song, "Sunshine Mind," was recorded and released by Donnie Marie (previously one of the voices of The Archies) on Columbia Records in 1969. Also in 1969, Levinson, Ed Fox, and Herb Abramson produced "Ring Around My Rosie" by Protozoa, which was released on Buddah Records. Levinson worked for Murray the K and Wolfman Jack at WNBC Radio in New York City, 1972-1974. His 1972 album, Twice Upon A Rhyme, was re-issued in Japan and Korea in 2008, and in the U. K. in 2010, and again in 2012. Don Frankel and Robbie Rist, performing as Sundial Symphony, recorded and released Levinson’s song “Merri-Goes-Round” (co-written with Ed Fox) on Big Stir Records in 2019. His first new album since 1972, Welcome Up: Songs of Space and Time, was released by Old Bear Records and Light in the Attic Records in 2020. Levinson’s alternate history story about The Beatles, “It’s Real Life,” was adapted into a streaming radio play in 2023. His song “If I Traveled to the Past” (co-written with John Anealio) is heard at the end of the play. You'll find all of those records and more on this playlist.
