This year, Indie City has assumed a profound significance as we dedicate our upcoming season to the resilience of artists in response to the brutal attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7. In light of the challenges faced by our communities during these trying times, we are undertaking a project to produce nine music videos featuring Israeli artists in locations within the Gaza envelope region directly affected by the October 7 events, such as Kibbutz Beeri, the Sderot police station, Kibbutz Alumim, Kibbutz Gvulot, and others. Short passages will document the artists’ encounter with the difficult locations and sights for which words are hard to find. They will provide a space for sharing and processing the difficult, complex and moving experience that accompanies the healing process and dealing with pain and bereavement through music.Much has been written about the power of music in the healing processes of the body and mind. These videos will serve as a powerful testament to the indomitable spirit of the Israeli people, providing both cultural documentation and a form of healing for individuals and communities affected by the tragic events.
