When Belushi and his partner in crime, Dan Aykroyd, transformed themselves into Jake and Elwood Blues, they pulled together arguably one of the greatest American bands ever assembled, and thru their alter egos, honored the music, the musicians who made the music, and the life experiences that produced the blues. A labor of love, Briefcase Full of Blues, the debut album by the Blues Brothers, was recorded live on September 9, 1978 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles, and subsequently shot to #1 on the Billboard chart and achieved Platinum status in early ‘79. It was nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group the same year.
