Abakus is a solo project of Russ Davies. Russ has strong musical roots and cites Acid House, IDM, Dub & Electronica as his influences. His key influences are early pioneers like Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis, Jean-Micheal Jarre & KLF & leading to modern talent such as Alax Braxe, Rex The Dog, Junior Boys. His first album 'That Much Closer To The Sun' was published to Jazz Summers' BIGLIFE Music in 2004, and released on Liquid Sound, label of Killing Joke and the Verve producer Youth. He has toured the world extensively with his sound, has licensed music to over 30 albums, and has worked on mixes for The Orb, Roxy Music, Gypsy Kings and The Perishers, to name a few. Russell has always played the guitar and deftly fuses song-writing ideas into his electronic music.
