Hillcrest Wind Ensemble celebrated the 40th anniversary of their founding in grand fashion. The concert included the world premier of their commissioned piece by Robert Sheldon, titled “With Pride and Joy!” as well as many selections that were performed during the band’s first concert season in 1985-1986 when they were known as San Diego’s Finest City Freedom Band. The evening ended with musical selections for Christmas and Hanukkah. Several band alumni were also in attendance. December 13, the day of the concert, was also declared with a proclamation from the City of San Diego as “Hillcrest Wind Ensemble Day” with a special appearance at the concert by 3rd District Councilmember Stephen Whitburn to make the presentation. The concert was held in the Liberty Ballroom at Courtyard by Marriott/Liberty Station in San Diego, California, on December 13, 2025. We hope you enjoy the music from our anniversary concert!
