In 1981 the London Symphony Orchestra had a hit with "Hooked on Classics", a medley of orchestral classics with a clapping disco beat. Just as earlier generations were introduced to many great classical music pieces through the Looney Tunes cartoons, many in the 80s got an overview through hearing this on the radio. I though it would be interesting to revisit this, along with the original pieces it incorporates. (As a bit of self-indulgence, in addition to the traditional Toccata and Fugue in D Minor played on organ, I have also included the rendition by the group Sky from the previous year. I love the video - watching Tristan Fry on the drums is the absolute epitome of someone loving what they are doing!)
