The one and only Lutzenkirchen drops two sleazy slabs on Freshin, with the gears pulled slightly back and the groove factor pushed to the max as he only knows how. The acidid "The Imp" creeps and crawls with its cryptic rhythm section, letting Detroit chords do the talking. Old school sounds and stabs hide gracefully in the shadows leading to some quirky vocal sampling and mangling at the climactic breakdown. Da Fresh steps up for the remix and blasts out a more jacking version using the chords for momentum and retaining the old school vibe via the familiar vocal stab. "The Phalanx" is even more laid-back, grooving along with a persistent riff while jazzy chords and Housey percussion add oodles and oodles of style. As the track unfolds we get filtered out and funked up in a smoky haze of liquid bass and pitched-down vocals.
