Christmas with German Teutonic Influence, Austria and Switzerland (Frohe Deutschland Teutonisch Weihnachten aus Österreich und der Schweiz)

YouTube Music • 1.1K views • 50 min

Although we often take Christmas celebration customs for granted, most of the so-called “traditional” Christmas practices only date back to the 19th century. Many of these customs originated in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We gain many famous composers from Germany, Austria and the surrounding regions. Most notably from Germany: J. S. Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Dieterich Buxtehude, Handel, Mendelssohn, Johann Pachelbel, R. Schumann, R. Strauss and Wagner. From Austria, we enjoy "Papa" Haydn, Mahler and of course, last but not least, my personal fav, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. (PS Although Handel (Feb 23, 1685 - Apr 14, 1759) was born in Germany, he composed mainly in England, so I have included Handel in both playlists.) https://www.german-way.com/history-an...
