E'voke were a UK vocal duo consisting of Marlaine Gordon and Kerry Potter. Formed in 1994 under the production of Barry Leng and Duncan Hannant, they first released a dance cover of Stevie Wonder's "I Believe" which hit #79 in the UK charts. The following year they scored a UK top 30 hit with "Runaway". In 1996, E'voke scored their biggest commercial and club hit with "Arms of Loren" which featured two distinct versions - the Steinway mix and the Nip N Tuck remix. Despite only reaching #25, the song became a club classic. Following lengthy delays, a follow single "Missing You" (a cover of the John Waite track) was finally released in early 1999 but failed to chart. E'voke disbanded, but Marlaine attempted a solo career with a song "Step Away" produced by Leng and Hannant and featuring Potter on backing vocals. The track failed to chart. In 2001, the head of Inferno records played the Nip N Tuck remix of "Arms of Loren" to DJ Ferry Corsten. Realising the untapped potential of the track, he remixed it an the track went on to be a club hit once again reaching #31 in the UK charts. The Corsten remix has gone on to be regarded as a trance classic, whilst the 1996 Steinway mix continues to be played today.
