These four years were the last years in which acoustic recording (playing/singing/speaking into a large horn attached to a record lathe) was the dominant method of recording. In 1925, electric recording (playing/singing/speaking into a microphone) replaced the acoustic method and yielded increased fidelity, overtone response and bass. These years also saw in increase in recorded jazz and country music, as record companies were competing with radio listeners who could hear an even wider variety of music for free. This era in my collection spans the genres of pop/jazz/operetta/country.
