Released in 1973 on the famed New York City-based ESP label, this collection of English-language folk songs was recorded by Louisa Jo Killen (then presenting/performing as Lou or Louis Killen) in 1968. Killen's instrument of choice, the concertina, enhances the sparse beauty of the performances. Her vocals remind me a lot of fellow Brit A. L. Lloyd. The less than stellar quality of the cover art as well as the fact that the LP came out five years after it was recorded suggests that this was not a release that the label was deeply invested in. Note: The images of the LP jacket are not mine, but are taken from Discogs. I purchased my copy sealed and left the shrink wrap on, and was unable to get a clear picture of either side. The images of the disc labels are from my copy.
