In January 2020, Rocknoceros received a request from a very nice family to write a song for a little fan named Sophie, in anticipation of her fourth birthday come August. More precisely, this was an offer to commission the song - and Rocknoceros can always use the work! We accepted immediately, comfortable knowing we had many months to finish the project... Turns out we needed all the time we could get! The global pandemic left us scrambling for ideas, dozens of booked gigs gone, nothing on the horizon. But when July came, we knew we had at least one job to do - Sophie's Birthday! By now, we had decided that the "song" project should be more ambitious. So, we rolled cameras while we recorded three new original songs (It's Your Birthday, Seahorses, and Sophie's Jam), plus a jazzy treatment of the traditional Happy Birthday song. We delivered our little video EP with a few days to spare. Whew! The birthday girl was reportedly delighted by the videos. Whew Whew! Now, please enjoy this short but fully packed playlist of Rockno's latest, and thanks to Sophie and her family for helping us in a big way.
