With a repertoire which includes nearly 80 characters from opera and zarzuela, maria Bayo's name is now synonymous with musicality, rigour and seriousness. In 1993 she debuted in the world premiere of La Calisto (Cavalli) at La Monnaie in Bruxelles, with René Jacobs conducting and in a production by Herbert Wernicke.
