Songs to Stop a Coup

These songs are to be SUNG IN ACTION defending elections and stopping attempts at a coup. They were written by The Peace Poets in collaboration with social justice orgs (SURJ, East Point Peace Academy, The Wildfire Project, Defend Democracy Coalition, and Choose Democracy) AND recorded with the support of other movement artists including Jonny 5 of Flobots, Spirit of Grace, Charon Hribrar, Kevin Salem, Waltrina Middleton, Priscilla Velez, Josh Blaine Bethany Yarrow, and Josh Hedge. You will notice that we have songs with specific purposes- we have songs for energizing, de-escalation, deepening commitment, expressing love for each other and articulating our vision. We recommend practicing them and being ready to use them for whatever situation arises, but definitely planning to use them as a way to hold space and close the space of your actions. Thanks for learning, using and sharing these songs! Shoutout to all the good folks getting these songs into the hands of the people and all those of us who will be bringing them into the streets soon to inspire, connect and protect the people and the world we love. Each song will have a lyric video to be used as a teaching tool that will be released @ThePeacePoets so please follow us there on instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
