The second release of BETWIXT was presented by Collect All And Save at the end of the summer. It was a rather unique collection of tracks, but we gave them another twist, so we can proudly present the CAAS - 180809 The Remixes EP! At the time of release, we said that “The release consists of three dark and heavy techno tracks. It is raw and experimental. You can find traces of post-rock and even Hungarian folk music, so it is unusual, to say the least. But they are all built around thumping basslines, so don’t worry - if you like techno, you’ll love this!” So how did we remix the original release, you ask? •marion• is a new name among the BETWIXT family and we can’t think of a better way to make a great entrance. Melf, the dark themed monster track was reworked into a gently flowing, smooth but of course still pretty dark track on the verge of ambient and techno. 180809 got a treatment from bõmber and Siaga and they nudged the track in the direction of instrumental hip-hop and trap, while holding onto the guitar theme of the original, but expanding it with synths towards the end to give it a futuristic edge. The third remix was brought to us by luvtoshima. Szerelem combined Hungarian folk music with boiling acid, while the new track gave us a house anthem wrapped in a lo-fi blanket, with light synths and drums that makes every limiter go wild. BETWIXT is a community bound together by the love for underground electronic music, originating from Pécs, Hungary, but they are increasingly present in the night life of Budapest as well. Their goal is to create a platform where techno, house, futurebeats, hip-hop and trap can fit alongside each other. As a record label alongside the main BETWIXT crew they provide space to known and not-so-well-known producers to create interesting and unique music.
