RIVER ALBUM

Welcome to RIVER! The 3rd collaborative album between Swiss producer duo GR! & Hook and Kenya’s singer, rapper, drummer Muthoni Drummer Queen (River is Muthoni’s 4th studio album) RIVER serves global, Afro-diasporic sounds; blending hip-hop, reggae-dancehall, and soulful R&B fused with traditional drum rhythms from various ethnic communities in Kenya. Produced in 2019 during the collaborators’ Nairobi based creative residency, and further developed during their 50+ date touring season in the same year, RIVER is full of light, upbeat, feel good, deeply empowering anthems that celebrate the rise and rise of global afro connections, sounds, vibes, culture, fashion, art, music, and all-round greatness. Conceptually, RIVER muses on the journey the individual African takes from the spirit world, into a localised ethnic identity, before they flow into their urban and global identities then returning to their source to start the journey all over again. Listen to this album loud and in the right sequence and you will experience the feeling of being at the best concert, at the best festival ever! We are so grateful for your support! Happy Listening!
