Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds: Generations is an edit that uses the 2012 "The New Generation" album as its starting point, while incorporating changes inspired by both the 1978 album and more recent iterations of the live performances. The name "Generations" was chosen as the intention was to reflect the best of ALL previous generations, including the stage shows. This 2026 edition reintroduces Richard Burton's iconic monologue, including moments not originally present in the 1978 double-album. Although Richard Burton recorded a great deal of material, he did not record a version of the post-2012 stage prelude for Act 2, and as such this is absent, with Act 2 starting from The Red Weed (Part 1) as it was presented on the double-album and The New Generation remix.
