The Solent Way is one of the most picturesque walks in Hampshire, taking in views of the Hampshire countryside, Solent and Isle of Wight. The route is 60 miles and stretches from Milford on Sea to Emsworth which is at the top of Chichester Harbour. Much of the path following the Hampshire coast line and passing through the New Forest. Through most of it's length stunning views of the beautiful Isle of Wight, just a few miles off the Hampshire Coast. The route crosses coastal marshes to Lymington before going inland and past the heaths, woods and villages of the New Forest, Bucklers Hard and Beautiful village of Beaulieu to reach Hythe on the Test Estuary. The ferry is taken to Southampton from where it follows the Solent shoreline, crossing the River Hamble to reach Portsmouth via the Gosport ferry. It continues along the historic waterfront of Portsmouth and Southsea and passes the coastal marshes and quays around Langstone Harbour.
