Maxïmo Park picked 6 tracks from Dour Festival 2014's line-up and explains why they chose them. Badbadnotgood "Kaleidoscope". During our recent tour of the US Iwe listened to their latest album III constantly - the long drives and hot nights seemed perfectly suited to their brand of instrumental post-rock/jazz/lounge/hip-hop. Blawan "What You Do With What You Have". We've been getting into a lot of acid recently and this track is a great modern acid techno track. It reminds us of house parties we used to have in the early 00's listening to weird techno from people like The Horrorist. Blonde Redhead "23". We really love this band, the look, the sound and the mood. This track encapsulates all their best moves - great chord changes, soaring vocals and a huge wash of sound. Clark "Herzog". Chris is a constantly evolving artist and choosing one track is to miss out whole sides of his output. But in terms of pure enjoyment this is an aural shot of pure adrenaline. Mr. Oizo "Stunt". Oizo's best tracks for us are the most simple - hard, raw and straight-to-the-point bursts of electronic irreverence. Mala In Cuba "Como Como". A successful mix of the dark, spacious production of dubstep applied to purpose made recordings of Cuban musicians and singers.
