Open D guitar tuning permits a large inventory of rich chords that are "easy" to play. But the tuning also lends itself to a full sound that nicely backs strong melodies. Many old-time spirituals indeed have strong melodies, and often lovely ones. This series thus presents strong chords, and strong melodies.
