Well, here is a more COMPREHENSIVE version of "Synth Britannia at the BBC" -- which means, no acts from the 70s, AND ESPECIALLY NO ACTS that WERE NOT British (Looking at YOU, Sparks!). Only performance missing is "Ghosts" by Japan when it was performed on "Old Grey Whistle Test" (to link the two performances, like was done with Donovan on "Folk Britannia at the BBC"). As for some of the repeats, I invite you to remember that "Psychedelic Britannia at the BBC" had some repeats too (two songs from The Moody Blues' "In Search of the Lost Chord"), so the way I see it, two bands who are on repeat won't hurt anybody (especially if it's to illustrate line up changes). Again, these are bands who appeared on the documentary itself, and not bands who had NOTHING to do with the documentary, like Sparks (who, like I said, are not Brits but Americans, like yours truly). Unfortunately, this also creates a quandary: Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk, who WERE mentioned (and the latter was part of the documentary, in spite of not being Brits), ended up NOT being added. (In Kraftwerk's case -- the performances that are on YT are missing the moment when Ralf and/or Florian [I don't know which] loaded the sound effects tape, plus the introductions of Wolfgang and Florian, so "Autobahn" couldn't EXACTLY be added in the form I described.) That said, though, this compilation rectifies other errors (like two songs titled "Temptation"! Who was in charge of making the compilation???), so sit back, enjoy, and drift down the analogue circuitry as your favourite bands make their appearances on BBC programmes!
