Minimal music for acoustic piano and drum machine: hypnotic, repetitive pattern music, played by hand and recorded in Berlin. Post-minimalism with an analog synth carrying the low end, nothing quantized and nothing smoothed over. This playlist collects every piece in the series as it comes out. The working method doesn’t change much between tracks. A repeating cell, a machine that never hesitates, and two hands that always do. The friction between those two is the subject rather than a flaw to be corrected, so the timing stays as played. Mixes are rudimentary on purpose: levels and stereo placement, nothing else. The thinking behind it goes back to four-channel trackers on the Atari ST in the nineties: one channel for a bassline that never stops, one for the drum, the rest shared and reused because there was nothing else available. Part A, part B, back to A, then C. Pattern music before I had a word for it. American minimalism, Terry Riley in particular, arrived much later and confirmed something that was already there. Acoustic piano, drum machine, analog synth. Recorded in Berlin. New pieces are added as they’re finished. Subscribe if the frequency aligns. #minimalmusic #postminimalism #pianoanddrummachine
