The subject of the painting came out of the subconscious mind and I didn’t think about it much then, because common blackbirds have always felt close to my heart. When Blackbird was born, only few months ago, I was struggling with my own solo album. I felt I’m not good enough with technical production and instruments and that’s why I was stuck. Then suddenly I started to hear songs in my head, in English. These tunes were so strong that I knew I just can’t throw them to waste. I remembered that my daughter took a few photos of me with me wearing a crown made by Eero Hintsanen. I finally knew why we took those photos, like I knew why I painted that bird. It was Blackbird, waiting in my mind to be conceived. I knew right from the start that Blackbird writes her own songs, plays all the instruments, produces the music, and is doing the recording and mixing and mastering by herself. That was surprising because these issues were the main problem with my own solo stuff. Suddenly Blackbird appeared and did everything by herself. She wrote a note: Who needs superheroes? You have me. This bird is powerful, full of wise words with music inspired by nature, humanity and life itself. Blackbird’s music is not based in any genre. But if you must name a few, it could be described as alternative pop or dark pop. All the songs in the EP have taken their forms as instant flow, songs autoplaying themselves, appearing out of thin air. The lyrics are about the bigger view, words sung from a distance. Like often said: you need to travel far to see the things close to you. Tracklist: 1. Birthsong 2. Sinner 3. Bird and the Fire 4. Stop Fighting 5.
