The Dick Nixons were a sort of punk rock band from Louisiana, USA. Most of their songs are about USA president Richard Nixon (1969-1974). They also did some covers and parodies. The singer sounds like Bobcat Goldthwait. The drummer beat on a metal trash can with a cymbal mounted on it called the trash kit. At their live shows they would get someone from the audience to wear a cymbal helmet for the drummer to play for a song. Paint the White House Black (1992) is their only album. They began their mission to get Nixon back in office in 1984, then hung it up after he passed in 1994, though there were a few one-off reunions. I never quite figured out if they were serious or if it was all a joke, but their songs are catchy. Kirk "The Jerk" Springstone - guitar, vocals Charles "The Prez" Leftwing - bass, vocals "Cowboy" John Radical - tambourine, 5 ft. galvanized pipe, saxzoo, big drum, vocals "Prof." Will McCormick - trash kit, vocals Jim Dickinson - producer Mojo Nixon - executive producer This audio is taken from the CD, but I sped up all the tracks a little bit to try to match my memory of the cassette tape speed, because cassettes always played faster than CDs. That gives the music a bit more energy, and most of this band's music is supposed to be high energy rock 'n' roll.
