HOPEFUL. (yes, with the period) is more than a band name it’s a declaration: because of Jesus, there’s hope. End of story. Formed during the darkest days of the pandemic, the band began as a lifeline when founding members Randy James (vocals) and Hunter Jackson (lead guitar) were battling anxiety and depression. One lyric saved a life. A friendship sparked a mission. Soon after, Eddie Buelna (bass), James Barragan (drums), and Rafael Bastos (rhythm guitar) joined the journey. Based in Oceanside, CA, HOPEFUL. blends their church roots, surf/skate culture, and a love for soul-drenched, arena-ready indie rock. Their music carries the grit of garage rock, the pulse of the city streets, and the coastal heartbeat of southern California. They write anthems that stoke the fire of the faithful and throw a lifeline to the ones hanging on by a thread. Their shows are more than a rock concert—they’re emotional, faith-filled experiences where stories, struggles, and soaring guitar riffs collide in a bold declaration of hope. Each set is a journey through songs about light breaking through, faith in the tension, and beauty rising from the ruins. Their breakout EP Wild One is gaining global momentum, garnering over 15 million streams in 2025 alone and continuing to surge into this year. The project has been featured on Apple Music’s “Today’s Christian” and other major playlists across Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music. Their latest single, “Get Me Outta The Way,” is the first song off their debut LP “the art of letting go”, which is set to release the summer of 2026. The message is spreading — and the sound of hope is getting louder.
