In memory of the great contributions to music and high standards of flute playing made by James Pappoutsakis, we, his friends, colleagues, and students, join together to encourage the perpetuation of those standards of excellence which he demonstrated in his playing and teaching. Through his gracious generosity to the flute community as faculty member of the Boston Conservatory of Music, Boston University, Longy School of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music, the purpose of this organization shall be to encourage promising flute players who are studying in the Boston area by periodically giving an award to an outstanding flutist. Here is the culmination of the competition from the 39th annual competition- The full performance of the The 7th Annual Fenwick Smith Memorial Concert, in New England Conservatory of Music, Jordan Hall, Recorded September the 8th, 2019.
