This is the full list of my drone tone backing track series for guitar and bass. These tones are designed to be an aide for practicing the various modes in all keys, pentatonic superimposition, and arpeggios. I made this especially for learning modal playing to help with my students the why and how of modes. You can play along to each tones in a key following the same scale shape (most of you are familiar with the natural minor/aeolian shape, so lets go with that). But since the note will be different, how you hear the notes in the scale will also be different. For an example, let's look at the key of "C" and it's relative minor of "A". If you play the A minor shape over: C (I): Ionian or what we normally call the major scale D (ii): Dorian E (iii): Phrygian F (IV): Lydian G (V): Mixolydian A (vi): Aeolian or what we normally call the minor scale B (vii): Locrian Please note that the catch to using the minor scale shape only is that your target notes will change according to what mode you are playing in. The harder ones to get the hang of are Locrian and Phrygian, but that's what these drone tones are for! I have organized each of the notes into the different keys. This way you can choose a playlist, stick to the same scale shape, and hear for yourself how the context of the note changes how the scale is perceived. I'll give a few more guidelines in the playlist description itself (specially what shape to play) or if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
