Telemann 360º was a two week festival held in Philadelphia to mark the 250-year anniversary of Georg Philipp Telemann's birth year. The videos in this playlist concern our three formal events: Telemann's chamber music as curated by other professional musicians _(The Faithful Music-Master),_ There was more than just those three events: the International Telemann Society held its first US conference alonside our festival. There were activities around print-making (Telemann engraved his own music for publication). There were botany events (Telemann and Handel exchanged botanical specimens, and both used the same plant dealer as 18th-century Philadelphia notable John Bartram). Philadelphia's German Society put out displays of first editions by Telemann's various lyricists. The music events weren't limited to our two formal concerts. To invoke the spirit of the Elbe, we had musically accompany river cruises on the Delaware River, the 18th-century skyline along which resembled Telemann's Hamburg's at the same time. The University of Pennsylvania held a lecture/talk on music in Philadelphia during Telemann's time.
