Like the first year of every new decade, 1980 was a time for taking out the magnifying glass and looking for clues to what the future would hold. As far as pop music was concerned, a close-up view revealed more of what it would not hold -- namely, the often metronomic disco sound that had dominated the charts throughout the latter part of the 1970s. But dance music was as strong as ever; as explained by Minneapolis' Lipps Inc, it was simply headed for a new address: "Funkytown." Time Life Music started selling this collection on TV in 1995. Not sold in stores.
