Emerging and evolving from his earlier video series, B-Boy VS. Producer (c. 2009), Mark Valino’s Moments of Movement series is a collection of videos that pair a freestyle dancer with music by emerging artists. Featuring songs by Clairmont the Second, Tamera Russell, Zaki Ibrahim, Daniel Caesar and Times Neue Roman, Valino captures the improvisatory movements of exceptional dancers like Sam I am, Tyrell Black and Fly Lady Di. Carried out in public places, from Toronto’s financial district to the subway, in both day and night, Valino allows his audience to indulge in the unexpected interruption of public space by the movements of freestyle dance.
