The first in a new series of playlists that spotlight Kronos Quartet's international collaborations features Kronos' recordings written by and performed with African artists – from Nubian Egyptian composer and master oud player Hamza El Din to multi-Grammy-winnning Beninese pop star and activist Angélique Kidjo. Includes two bonus live videos – one of our ongoing creative relationship with Malinese griot super group Trio Da Kali and another of music composed by balafon virtuoso Fodé Lassana Diabaté for "Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire," an education and legacy project that is commissioning—and distributing for free—the first learning library of contemporary repertoire for string quartet. Enjoy!
