Okanan - You Know

https://definitive.lnk.to/DEFDIG2608 Okanan Makes Definitive Recordings Debut with ‘You Know’, Featuring a Remix from Frits Wentink Definitive Recordings welcomes Okanan for his debut on the label with ‘You Know’, a deep house release accompanied by a remix from Dutch producer Frits Wentink. Following his appearance on Get Physical Music as part of the Cuba Gets Physical project, the Havana-born artist now delivers his first solo outing on Definitive Recordings, showcasing a timeless approach to deep house rooted in atmosphere, groove, and subtle musical storytelling. Born in Havana, Cuba, Okanan has spent more than a decade shaping the country's electronic music scene. Drawing from Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Minimal, and Techno while embracing his Caribbean heritage, he has developed a distinctive sound that balances underground club aesthetics with Cuban musical influences. Alongside performances at major Cuban festivals and clubs, he remains an active force within the local scene through projects such as Manicato Creators and the Wave collective, while previous releases on Get Physical Music and Wampara Music have introduced his music to an international audience. The original version of ‘You Know’ is an immersive journey into dub-infused deep house. Built around a bold yet understated groove, the production recalls the spacious aesthetic of classic dub techno, with expansive soundscapes unfolding beneath warm rhythms and subtle textures. Layers of synthesizers gradually emerge throughout the arrangement, eventually introducing cinematic string passages that elevate the emotional depth of the track. A distinctive male vocal sample ties the composition together, resulting in a piece that feels raw, hypnotic, and effortlessly timeless. For the remix, Frits Wentink reshapes the original into a more drum-focused interpretation without losing its deep, atmospheric character. One of the Netherlands' most respected underground artists and founder of the Will & Ink and Bobby Donny labels, Wentink has built a reputation for his unmistakable blend of dusty grooves, analogue textures, and leftfield house music. His version places greater emphasis on a swinging TR-909-inspired rhythm while reworking the original's dubby elements into a shuffling, groove-led arrangement that feels equally hypnotic and perfectly suited to the dancefloor. With ‘You Know’, Okanan makes an impressive debut on Definitive Recordings, while Frits Wentink contributes a remix that complements the original with effortless style. Together, the two versions celebrate the enduring appeal of deep house through warmth, space, and uncompromising underground quality. https://definitiverecordings.bandcamp...
