It has always made me kind of sad that a lot of Debussy's beautiful, dreamlike work is (shall we put it nicely) not very lever-harp friendly. But WHAT IF you could feel (at least a little bit!) like you were playing Debussy right from the START?! 🧚♂️🎶✨ I've had this idea floating around my head for a while now: is it possible to make some of Debussy's music a little bit more accessible for less experienced harpists? Is it possible to capture that Belle Epoque atmosphere - but without all the lever changes and incredibly difficult fingerwork? 🫶🤞🙀 Enter 'Suite Debussy-esque'! Each piece in this beginner-friendly suite of five pieces is based on a motif from one of Debussy's famous preludes, but adapted in such a way as to make them all playable right from the beginning of your harp studies (no, really - the first tune only uses two fingers in each hand!). The pieces progress in difficulty from 'beginner' to 'early-intermediate', and despite their simplicity, you can still experience the magic of playing THOSE first few notes of 'Clair de Lune' and revel in the harmonic complexity produced by whole-tone scales in the mysterious-sounding 'Tulle' - but with no lever or pedal changing required! 🎉 WHAT'S MORE, all of the pieces are playable on most 26-string harps (the lowest note in the suite is D3, the highest G6). Am I Debussy? No (sigh!). But do these allow us to explore his ideas on our beloved harps even if we're not advanced players? I hope so! If this sounds like your kind of thing, you can get it now as a digital download from my shop As well as 'clean' copies of the scores, it also includes my 'friendly annotated versions' which contain the comments and analyses that I might give to a student to help them as the worked through the pieces. ✨🎶 Want to hear the pieces first? Well, you can do that too by watching the playlist 'Suite Debussy-Esque' on my YouTube channel (er, you all know how that works!). Happy harping, everyone! 🎉😍🎵 #leverharp #harpmusic #laharpeceltique #harp #betterlatethannever 😂
