Thresholds is God in a Black Suit's second album, which was preceded by the singles “A New Life” (+ bonus tracks “Your Heart”) and “To Forget” (+ bonus track “Melissa”). Thirteen new songs that underline the creative urgency and the original character of the Italian quintet, confirming a direction solidly rooted in the most genuine Post-Punk and New Wave, but further opening up to those alternative and indie scenarios already explored in the first self-titled work. The album explores, in a personal and deeply felt way, the theme of inner growth: a path that involves crossing a series of emotional thresholds. Loss, separation, renunciation, acceptance, are just some of those fundamental experiences that each of us faces during our lifetime. A love that ends, a bereavement, a dream or a shattered ambition, experiences so common and yet so important that they are fundamental in that intimate progress. Processing a pain or trying to forget it, enjoying a joy or being forced to give it up, accepting change and embarking on a new journey, each experience prepares us to the awareness that change is inevitable: they are paths that lead us to the acceptance of a necessary transfiguration, to the understanding that a path is now exhausted and must give way to the next one. Thresholds, the title track, is almost a manifesto of what will be explored in the following 12 tracks: the desire for change in A New Life, the need for detachment in To Forget and its opposite in I Remember You, the loss in Whisper or the farewell in End. The challenge, the ambition, the desire and the search for a new balance far from the patterns of an increasingly invasive society in Goodbye, Breath, Sunshine, One More Time, Dirt, Invisible. Each song starts from an evident personal matrix and tells a step towards the new, for better or for worse.
